Why We’re Bringing Cargo Bikes to Norwich

Norwich isn’t a random pin on the map for us. Over the past couple of years, we’ve been working closely with Norfolk County Council to help local businesses rethink deliveries. Instead of defaulting to vans, we introduced a simple idea: try a cargo bike first, see if it works, then decide.

The response was genuinely encouraging with businesses and organisations like, The Wildlife Trust, Norwich Cathedral, Norwich Festival, Beer Hatch, Ronaldo Ices and more converting to using a bike instead of a van with benefits of moving faster through Norwich, cutting costs, and reducing the daily stress that comes with driving.

That success led us to our next step of short term Cargo Bike hire for families giving them a chance to try for real what it would be like on the school runs, shopping, everyday life.

Norwich already has a strong cycling culture. You can see that in the popularity of schemes like Beryl Bikes. But cargo bikes are still underrepresented, and that’s where we think there’s real potential.

“We’ve already seen how well cargo bikes can work in Norwich,” says Managing Director Robert Hampton. “There’s a strong cycling culture here, and we think cargo bikes are the natural next step for many people.”

Why we’re the ones to do it

We’re not new to this. Cargo bikes aren’t a side category for us, they’re what we specialise in. We’ve spent years helping families and businesses find the right setup, not just selling and repairing bikes.

Being based in the heart of the UK’s cycling culture, Cambridge, has shaped how we work. Practical advice, first hand experience, and a focus on what actually makes day-to-day life easier. That’s what we’re bringing to Norwich.

Not your typical shop opening

This isn’t a polished, permanent rollout with everything figured out from day one.

We’re starting with temporary roots. A space to meet people, run test rides, and learn what Norwich riders actually need. It’s a test-and-learn approach, shaped by the community rather than imposed on it.

We want to see more cargo bikes on Norwich streets, but we’ll get there by listening first.

What happens next

We’ll be opening our Norwich space on Saturday 18 April from 10.30am at 71–73 Botolph Street, NR3 1DT. We’d love you to come down and see what’s on offer.

From day one, you’ll be able to:

  • Book a test ride or try-before-you-buy session
  • Hire a cargo bike and try it in your daily routine
  • Book servicing or repairs for your bike
  • Talk to us about switching from car to cargo

Find full details, booking links and updates here.

If you’re curious, come and try a bike and see how it feels, or book ahead through the link above.

This is just the start, and we’d love you to be part of it.
