Meet our Instructors

Rob

Rob steers Outspoken Cycles, ensuring the smooth running of our various services and the development of new projects, and on occasions offers his valuable knowledge on our courses as a bike repair Instructor.

Previously, Rob served as our Workshop Manager before stepping up to his current role. Having worked in bike shops across the UK, there’s little he doesn’t know about bikes.

As a former racer and current exercise enthusiast, you’ll often find him on his track bike or rowing along the River Cam.

David

David heads up our workshop, bringing years of experience in the bike industry to the team. With a Swiss Army knife of skills, he can solve even the trickiest mechanical problems.

Having worked on everything from robotics to bespoke bikes, his industry knowledge has helped countless people and continues to share this as a bike repair Instructor.

Richard

Richard, one of our skilled Senior Mechanics, brings years of bike maintenance experience and a background in coaching road and track cycling.

He shares his expertise through our courses and is proud of his 22-bike collection, especially his self-built Planet X road bike.

A passionate cyclist, he cherishes a six-day ride to Edinburgh with his eldest son.

Julian

Julian has lived and worked in Cambridge for most of his life, combining a passion for cycling with a career in teaching.

A former competitive mountain biker with the Over the Hill racing team, Julian trained as a professional bike mechanic after retiring from teaching and joining Outspoken Cycles in 2023.

He also volunteers at OWL Bikes, supporting work opportunities for disabled people and promoting the empowerment that comes with bike mechanic skills.
