Intermediate Bike Maintenance
Our one-day intermediate course is designed for people who have a base level of knowledge and want to be confident doing some of the more complex areas of bike maintenance. We run this for a full day to ensure that participants leave the end of the course with the confidence to be able to go back and use the skills straight away. There is plenty of time for practise and the maximum group size is 6 with our fully trained mechanic on hand to help out and answer questions as they come up. The course runs from 10am-4pm.
- Inspecting cables & learning when to replace
- Learning how to fit a new brake inner cable
- When and why a chain needs changing
- How to break and rejoin a chain correctly
- Lubrication and changing gear cables
- Learning about how a derailleur works
- Setting up your gears correctly for maximum efficiency
Please note that we will be concentrating on standard derailleur geared bikes and V-brakes. If you have a Dutch bike with hub brakes and gears, you may find parts of this course irrelevant to your bike, although there are certainly many things that are transferable. If you have any questions or worries, do please ask.
The course costs £60 per person and includes:
- All tools and equipment
