Chains
An old worn chain doesn't just wear away your expensive chainrings and sprockets faster - it also becomes inefficient at transmitting power! Get yourself gliding with a new chain...
Which size chain?
Basically, the thicker your chain, the stronger it is, and the longer it's going to last. Most single-speed kit is designed for 1/8" chain - which when you compare it to the skinny stuff you get on modern 10-speed racers is pretty bombproof!
Of course, you do pay for the extra strength and longevity with a bit of extra weight - not just in the chain itself, but in the chainring and sprocket too.
So if you are looking for that little edge, go for a 3/32" setup. If solidity and reliability are more important, stick with 1/8".
